Since 1993, Focus Efforts has walked alongside 4,500 owners in the property services vertical. Family-owned. Faith-driven. Headquartered in Winter Garden, Florida.
We help entrepreneurs build the businesses they always meant to build, and we do it as a real firm, with a real bench, real values, and a real commitment to the communities we serve.
Focus Efforts was founded on a straightforward conviction: that the entrepreneurs building Central Florida’s physical infrastructure, its plumbers, roofers, restoration specialists, contractors, deserved the same caliber of strategic business advisory that Fortune 500 firms took for granted.
Property services owners were building the homes, the offices, the retail spaces, and the industrial capacity that every other business ran on. And yet the owners themselves were getting almost none of the strategic support they needed to build their own enterprises. They had lenders. They had accountants. They had lawyers. What they didn’t have was a real strategic partner who understood their world.
The people who build for everyone else deserve someone helping them build for themselves.
That gap became the founding thesis. Since 1993, Focus Efforts has walked alongside more than 4,500 property services entrepreneurs across every stage of the business lifecycle, from the two-truck plumber trying to break into insurance program work to the national manufacturer building a certified installer network. Same firm. Same methodology. Same personal commitment to every owner.
The firm grew, the bench deepened, the practice areas expanded. What stayed constant was the founding principle: we serve the owners who serve everyone else. That is who we are. That is why we do what we do.
A family-owned firm means the owners answer the phone. Jim and Nicole Greear run Focus Efforts together, helping others transform while impacting their local communities.
Jim is a seasoned strategic business advisor, ordained minister, and chaplain, who melds world-class business practices with timeless biblical principles in his work. With over 30 years of experience helping entrepreneurs build thriving companies from the ground up and turn around underperforming operations, he continues to support aspiring entrepreneurs in launching new ideas and startups.
He provides tailored strategies, not off-the-shelf solutions, using a Define, Design, Deploy approach to craft customized game plans aligned with each client’s unique needs and objectives. This diverse experience allows Jim to speak on a wide range of inspirational and educational topics.
Jim has been a minister for several decades and a believer in Jesus since 1988. Happily married to Nicole, he enjoys time with his children and grandchildren when he’s not counseling clients or speaking publicly. Together with the family, they rescue cats, most of whom now have loving forever homes.
Nicole co-administers Focus Efforts and directs the purpose-driven work the firm funds across the community. She runs Graceful Purrs Cat Rescue with the family, coordinates the firm’s outreach into prisons, jails, and juvenile centers, and keeps the firm anchored to the family and community principles that have defined Focus Efforts from the beginning.
Jim and Nicole run a firm that treats every client relationship the way they treat their own family: with honesty, longevity, and a genuine investment in the outcome.

Jim has written more than a dozen books distilling three decades of client work into practical frameworks entrepreneurs actually use. These are a few of the ones most often on our clients’ desks.
The through-line across the library is the same principle that runs through every Focus Efforts engagement: strategy without alignment is theater, and alignment without execution is a wish list. The books walk owners through the specific work of getting all three, strategy, alignment, and execution, working together in the same direction.
All twelve-plus titles are available on Jim’s Amazon Author Page. Click any title below to jump to the library.
Beyond the books, Jim maintains jamesgreear.com as his speaking, media, and author hub. Full library, interviews, podcast appearances, and speaking-engagement inquiries all live there.
Values on a website are cheap. Values you can see in the work are the ones that matter. Here are the three principles that show up in every Focus Efforts engagement, whether we’re helping a startup contractor build his first program network or helping a manufacturer prepare for a strategic sale.
We run our business on solid, honest, and loving principles. That doesn’t mean we push our faith on anyone. It means we operate with integrity, tell you the truth even when it’s uncomfortable, and honor the trust you place in us when you invite us into your business.
We treat every client like family. Not in a marketing-copy way, but in a real way. We ask about your kids. We remember the hard conversation you had with your business partner. We show up when you need us, and we stay for the long haul because that’s what family does.
The returns from our client work fund the community service our family and firm lead. Teaching entrepreneurship in prisons and reentry programs. Chaplaincy for corporate teams. Cat rescue with our family. We do the work we ask you to do: build a business profitable enough to fund the purpose you actually want to live.
Six words. Two commitments. One firm. Every practice area we deliver, every client we advise, every dollar of revenue we earn eventually serves both halves of that mission. Business transformation is the tactical work we do together. Community impact is what your success, and ours, makes possible.
We help owners build businesses that generate profitable, predictable, recurring revenue, businesses that support the life the owner actually wants to live, and businesses worth a premium multiple when the owner is ready to step back. That is what our practice areas exist to deliver.
Business success without community impact is a wasted opportunity. The returns from our client work fund purpose-driven service across Central Florida and beyond, work our family and firm lead personally, and work we invite our clients into as they build the capacity to give back too.
A family firm can choose what to do with the money it earns. We choose to fund purpose-driven service that reaches people the traditional business world often overlooks. Every one of these programs is led personally by a member of our family or firm, not outsourced to a foundation. This is the work we walk the talk on.
We teach the Kauffman FastTrac entrepreneurship curriculum in partnership with Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development offices, and universities across Central Florida.
We run work-camp and reentry entrepreneurship programs, equipping returning citizens with the practical skills and mindset to build sustainable businesses after release.
Jim carries inspirational messages into prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers. Corporate chaplaincy for teams that need someone to walk alongside their people.
Weekly bible studies with our community’s homeless population, meeting people where they are and offering both spiritual support and practical resources.
Nicole and the family run Graceful Purrs Cat Rescue, rescuing, socializing, and placing cats in loving homes. The family’s ongoing labor of love.
Jim has authored more than a dozen books on business strategy and leadership. Royalties fund ongoing community work and content is freely available to entrepreneurs.
Focus Efforts has spent thirty-plus years earning recognition from the institutions that develop and support entrepreneurs. These are not vanity awards. They are ongoing affiliations built through service to the entrepreneurial community.
We work with clients across the country, but our office is here, on Plant Street in downtown Winter Garden. Coffee’s on if you’re in the area.
The best conversations start when there’s no agenda except getting to know each other. Book a fifteen-minute strategy call and we’ll see if we’re the right firm for what you’re building.
